DEVASTATING FLOOD REIGNS IN TETOUAN. FLASH FLOOD IN MOROCCO
And car drivers in the city of Tetouan found themselves stranded for long hours, by the water that flooded the main streets. The houses in the lower floors were not spared from the rainwater, and were most affected by the floods, amidst a state of shock among the residents. The Moroccan Meteorological Department estimated that the rain would reach seventy millimeters in the city near the Mediterranean coast. The largest damages were recorded in the city in neighborhoods such as “Khandaq Al-Zarbouh”, “Wadi Al-Mahnash” and “Jameh Mouzouq”, while commentators criticized what they considered negligence by the local authorities. The Moroccan authorities had previously warned of thunderstorms and important rains in the northern regions of the Kingdom, including Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Mdiq and Fneideq.
